The
French Film Festival is thrilled to premiere the latest French comedy
success, the hit blockbuster of the recent Christmas season. Tanguy marks
the triumphant return of writer/director Etienne Chatiliez (Tatie Danielle,
Life is a Long Quiet River).
Paul and Edith Guetz are a
rich couple in their fifties who can no longer stand the fact that their
28 year old model son still lives at home. Even though he is brilliant
and charming, his parents resolve to make his life a misery so he will
be forced to leave their luxurious apartment.
The
talented duo of André Dussollier and Sabine Azéma, who as
the parents are reduced to the craziest and the most darkly hilarious
extremities, are the irresistible assets of this film. As Tanguy, their
clinging offspring, Eric Berger (nominated best newcomer at the 2002 French
Cesar Awards) is a delight.
A comedy that is both exhilarating
and furiously corrosive, Tanguy confirms director Chatiliez' preference
for stressful situations within families and between different generations,
all for our greater enjoyment.
